NYC FASHION WEEK: KWD ♥'s Trends

Plaids and pea coats played a role on the bold and bright, Betsey Johnson runway
this evening. These looks reflect the modern flapper with a 60's/Retro twist.

Earlier this NYC Fashion Week, the MOD modern hippie seemed to be a
common inspiration, as seen from Nicole Miller last Friday. Even more tailored
collections such as Custo Barcelona and Tibi allude to these trends, leaning
to more relaxed silhouettes that are brought to life by fabric and styling.

NYC FASHION WEEK!!!

Today, Lincoln Center opens its doors to the amazing world of fashion. At 9am this morning, the first models of the season marked their territory on the catwalk for the span of New York City Fashion week. From February 9th - Febraury 16th top-notch designers will launch their latest collections for Fall 2012.

KWD: PAPER LOVE

1 dress, 2 stipulations; it must be made of Pellon and use only,
organic shapes such as triangles, circles, squares and rectangles. 
 

Pellon is a brand of non-woven, interfacing material used for its stiffness.
Similar to paper it does not stretch, but is thick enough to mold around the body.

 

I cut circles, squares and rectangles using pinking shears to create a razor-tooth edge around each shape. The dress is asymmetric with a one-shoulder strap and an invisible zipper closure down the back. The shapes are hand-stitched together, and decorative pieces have been fastened on. KWDoes the Holidays; Celebrate =)

Knit Wit Design celebrates success as the New Year approaches this weekend. One of my goals
before blessing the bubbly on the dawn of 2012 has been achieved, reaching 1000 fans for my brand.

Though 1K looks pretty sweet, this achievement is just the beginning for my KWD Vision.

In 2012 I hope to branch out my business online, basing my shop at Etsy. My brand has already found a
small home in trendy boutiques and with more fans I hope to close more sales through the internet platform.
Now my Knit Wits can be found both in select stores and even more easily shopped online.
